For relaxing evenings or the odd rainy day (not unknown in the  Lake District - the name's a bit of a giveaway, isn't it?)

A bit of history? Take a short run along the old Roman Road towards  Ravenglass to see the vast Hardknott Roman Fort (Mediobogdum as it was called), overlooking the dramatic Hardknott Pass. >> helmet

For your weekly supplies, there are shops in Ambleside, and a large Booth's supermarket close to Windermere station.>>
